Charleston Fishing Report 5-3-2011

by john on May 3, 2011

Spring fishing is in full swing. Inshore fishing has been outstanding. Trout, reds, flounder, and sheepshead are all biting well. The redfishing in particular has been amazing. Catching lots of big fish and lots of em. As far as the nearshore stuff is concerned the Cobia are showing up well and so are the Amberjacks. Great fish for both flycasters and novice anglers as well. Some fish boasting 50 lbs and better. They should be sticking around for a while and I really look forward to chasing them over the next month. Topwater has been great in the mornings and we are catching some of our biggest trout of the year right now.

Despite the rain the fishing was great today. We did 12 fish today between 8-12 pounds. We caught all our fish on DOA cal baits. 3 inch morning glory shad tails on 1/8 oz jig heads we the ticket. Super water conditions very slick and clear. Great day other than the cold rain.
