Finally getting some warm weather. Up around the high 60s today. Seems like it made the fish real happy. Fished mostly bait today with some young guys and did very well. We fished some crab and mud minnows. The water was super clear you could see the fish come up and snatch the crab off the bottom from the poling platform. Caught some great fish above the slot and some nice ones in the slot. Thanks a lot to Tony, Christian, and Christopher.

Fishing Report 3/4/10

Had a great weekend of fishing despite the cold and wind. Fished south all weekend and did well with the flies. Used mostly clousers in Black and black over white. We had some super negative low tides so a lot of the big fish were out and very visible. Fellow guide and friend Guitou caught this monster on Sunday with a black clouser.

Fished the Folly and Kiawah areas today with some buddies. Caught three good fish on the flies and saw some nice bunches. One fish was about twelve pounds on a small brown rabbit strip fly. Water temps were in the mid 40s pretty cold. The fish were still busting the mullet a little bit. Looks like some nice weather coming in this weekend. Everyone enjoy I know its been a while.

Shad Fishing Report 02-16-10

Went to the tailrace tuesday with Tucker Blythe. Fishing was pretty slow . The water was muddy but we still managed a couple of roe fish. I have heard good reports though. Some guys having some 20 fish kinda days. It should only get better over the next few weeks.

The Charleston Place is one of the nicest hotels in the downtown area. It is located in historic downtown within walking distance of some of the finest cuisene around. And is located in the historic area of town. A great place to stay if you have someone along that may not be fishing with you.

Had some super nice weather last week. Got the fish real happy. They we popping mullet. We even had some good popper action with the fly. Caught some super nice fish on the fly last week. All the fish in these pics came on Black Clousers.

Fishing has just been incredible despite the colder temperatures. Had a day last week fishing flies where we caught 27 reds. 23 of them being above the slot.We used a mud minnow patten and some clousers in black, and black over white. We also had some strong days on the plastics. Using Gulp and DOA’s we were really productive. Looks like some warmer temps are in our future. Looks like it is going to be an awesome year.

Well we have now fallen into full winter time mode. The water is super clear despite all the rain we have had lately and will stay that way for the next few months. The fish are really ganged up and have been feasting on mullet the past few weeks. As far as live bait goes shrimp, and mud minnows are working just about as well as anything. For big fish or small. On the flats the mud minnow on the jig head has been hard to beat. As far as plastics go I have been fishing DOA’s both the shrimp and CAL shads. Also the jerk shads are working really well in white. Topwater has also been reel good. I like white with the red head this time of year.

We have done a bunch with the fly over the last couple of weeks. It hasn’t been the best month as far as sight fishing conditions go. We just haven’t had that many sunny days when the lowtide was lining up right. But they have been eating good enough and have been easier to find. Its been all about the Clousers for me. Black over white, and jet black with a small amount of flash have been killer.
